This is very typical of these BG, Saltist and Saltist LTD reels.

No seals mean water gets in easily, and the cast gears don't hold up to the salt.

Extra care is required if you want them to last.

#reelservicesaustralia
The 'lever shaft body' under the drag lever on your TLDs, typically fails when running too much drag pressure.

#reelservicesaustralia
Warranty issues sorted, with the assistance of Maxel Aus.

#reelservicesaustralia
Water made its way into this Saltist.
The corrosion caused the back-up anti-reverse spring to come away from the main gear and go through the teeth.
Consequently, it now runs rough.

Certate 3000, cleaned and ready to reassemble.

#reelservicesaustralia
Sandy beach reels are definitely not something I enjoy working on.

#reelservicesaustralia
The part turned up for this 500MJ.
Unfortunately, it's not a simple case of removing the broken bits. The whole side cover needed to be replaced in this instance.
It's a good thing the part isn't crazy expensive.

Another fun night out.

This Stella drag washer has been destroyed.

New Tiagra 30W spool received.

#reelservicesaustralia
It's not every day you win one of these in a fishing comp.

#reelservicesaustralia #pgfcwaopen
I've only removed a few parts from this Talica and I can already smell rancid salt water.

#reelservicesaustralia
Now, this is pretty bad 😩

#reelservicesaustralia
This one also has the capacity to allow the user to take home half the beach sand with them.

#reelservicesaustralia
Tiagras have an internal water storage facility for those hot days when your water bottle runs out.

#reelservicesaustralia
2 more. But luckily the spools weren't damaged so no parts are needed.

#reelservicesaustralia
The ratchet plate screws in this Tiagra 30W have all come loose over time.
They have contacted the retaining bolt on the drive shaft.
This has pulled the screws to the side destroying the holes they screw into.
Now a new spool is required.

These screws need to be checked every season to ensure they are in tight.

#reelservicesaustralia
A nice evening at WASPS.
Now to tighten up those groups.

#reelservicesaustralia
Lest we forget

#reelservicesaustralia
This TwinPower had previously been serviced.
Some issues with the previous work have caused a few problems.

A number of areas had not been looked at so corrosionhads occurred, some parts were installed backwards, and the body seal wasn't seated correctly so it was destroyed upon assembly.

Amateurs should stay away from the big boy jobs.

#reelservicesaustralia
If your drag knob looks like this, then your maintenance regime needs some serious looking into.

#reelservicesaustralia
This is bullshit!!!
These environmentally damaging eyesores are planned to be placed in our amazing waters.
Geographe bay, two rocks/lancelin and kalbarri/abrolhos.
Fuk no, you slimy government weasels, fuk no!!!

#reelservicesaustralia #nooffshorewindfarm
Countersunk screws are used for a reason.
If you install parts, and it looks wrong, it probably is.
Pay attention to how you are installing parts.

The #gomexus TLD20/25 handle upgrade.
Previously, you had to put a Tyrnos handle on the TLD, but this bad boy is just that bit better again.

#reelservicesaustralia
Mr A strikes again and again.
After discussions today with a client, BCF Innaloo is recommending him as being "really good".

Ummmmm....NO

After the dozens and dozens of repairs of his so-called servicing, I've had to complete, the multiple FB group complaints, and the bad reviews he gets about poor and unethical workmanship, I can absolutely say he is really bad at what he does.

His work ethic is everything I am against, as I have said time and time again in previous posts.

It makes me mad to think someone with those poor morals can operate. If he did the right thing, I would have no problems with him at all.

Obviously, I can't name names for legal reasons.

Grrrrrr...angry...rant over.

#reelservicesaustralia
My customer previously had this Stella serviced via a tackle shop.

I found a few issues.

The body seal was missing, which allowed a reasonable amount of water to access the reel.
They did try to use grease as a 'seal', but it was the wrong type, and it did nothing.

There were a number of areas also that had not been opened, so nothing had been done to help limit water entry or prevent corrosion.

Many people who service reels will do it their own way. To some, a service is quick, involving minimal work, and to others, it's a drawn out time consuming process. I prefer the latter.

#reelservicesaustralia
Currently just trying my best to do what I can.

A big thanks to all my mates for the support.

#reelservicesaustralia
This boar was about 80kg. There were about 100+ pigs on the paddock, a few bigger, most smaller.

Plus, numerous foxes, cats, rabbits, and the odd red and grey kangaroo, with emus during the day.
The wildlife on what looks to be a dry barren area of land is incredible.

The big worry is the insane number of feral animals.

The farmer starts seeding soon, and these things are going to be a nightmare when the crops start to grow.

A much bigger effort is needed to reduce the numbers of these pests. They'll never be fully controlled, but we can only do what we can to help out our primary producers.

#reelservicesaustralia
One of 10 ferals out of the equation.
Tens of thousands more to go.

Given the size of WA, it will be impossible to get rid of them all. Shooters just need to keep plugging away at them to help try and minimise the devastating effect these things have.

If some of the new firearm laws are put thru by our incompetent government, then its highly possible feral numbers are going to escalate well out of control of anyone.

#reelservicesaustralia
Baitrunner reels are not sealed much at all, so it is important to keep them away from water splash.

#reelservicesaustralia
Perfect teeth in a reel are important, just like in life, unless you are a crack-head.

⭐️🎣⭐️🎣⭐️BIG NEWS JUST IN⭐️🎣⭐️🎣⭐️

After a species misidentification by another team, or team BLACK PEARL, has jumped up to 3rd place overall in the WA Open held in Jurien Bay.

This means we have won an invite to the Offshore World Championships in Costa Rica.

I probably wont be able to attend due to the cost of it but at least we made it.

But, I'm willing to take sponsorships to get there 😉

I had planned on starting work Tuesday but at this rate it wont be until after the weekend.

That means an additional week delay on all reels.

The unfortunate situation of being the only person doing the work in a small business.

#reelservicesaustralia
The mysteries of the universe deepen.

#reelservicesaustralia
Its always good to get another perspective.
This great pic from Deon on Striker.

What an awesome weekend it was.

Now, to go through the gear and see what changes/improvements I can make for next years comp.
Might have to try for a mulloway on 2kg gear 😉

Tean Black Pearl will be on their own next year as I will be back fishing on Valhalla 💪💪💪

We ended up with Kristy taking out champion female angler 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
I came runner up with heaviest game fish on 4kg and 6kg line.
It's a great event for sure, and I can't wait until next year.

#reelservicesaustralia #whittleywa #whittleywasales
After a very foggy start and a slow trip out, Kristy managed two point scoring fish on 4kg line.
The sambo was just under 5kg and the striped tuna was 6.5kg.

#reelservicesaustralia #whittleyboats
A few points scorers today, plus a couple of demersals as bycatch.
Mulloway were taken on 4kg and the amberjack on 6kg....and the 12kg dhu on 6kg.
A great day!!!
One more to go.

#reelservicesaustralia #whittleyboats
Not a bad day......stay tuned.
